EAGLE SCOUT: July 9, 2009

My Eagle Scout project was a series of two landscape gardens located at the Lakeville Veteran’s Memorial. We had to put in the edging of both of the gardens and then we had to plant the plants and mulch the two of them.
It looks great and I appreciate all the help I got on it.

EAGLE SCOUT: January 13, 2009

I put in edging and mulch around thirty trees along the upper driveway at All Saints church. A number of volunteers helped compile 132 man hours in two days of work. For the second phase of my project, I built four fifteen-foot movable benches for the church’s baseball fields. My brothers, my father, a friend, and I worked for three Saturdays on the benches.

Tyler Munson

EAGLE SCOUT: December 9th, 2008

Tyler's Eagle Scout project was to create an outdoor learning space for the Area Learning Center (ALC) in Lakeville. It gives teachers a chance to expand the classroom by giving students the opportunity to learn outside. It was made possible by numerous generous donations and over 200 hours of work. The space was created by planting a large tree, edging it with decorative bricks and mulching it. Four large, flat wooden benches were built, stained and cemented in. To prevent wear on the grass, brick pavers were installed in front and back of the benches. The school has been using the space and enjoying it.

John Newton

EAGLE SCOUT: November 2nd, 2008

John's Eagle Scout project was a cemetary sign for the Church of St Peter's Historic Cemetery in Mendota, Minnesota. The sign is made up of limestone saved from the church's old rectory and Heritage Hall. The limestone was used to keep in the tradition of the old Historic Church and the new church. The project was completed in August, 2008 and required 257 total hours to plan and construct the sign. Because of the amount of mortar used in the base of the sign, it should stand for many decades and the church was very happy with the final outcome.

John plans to continue in his love of Scouting by serving Troop 263 and fellow scouts in helping them to succeed in achieving scouts highest honor, Eagle.

Paul Nystuen

EAGLE SCOUT: November 2nd, 2008

Paul's Eagle Scout project was to work with the City of Lakeville to landscape the newly-constructed Lakeville Veteran's Memorial. The memorial would allow visitors to easily view an F-86 Sabre jet donated by Bill Studer of Lakeville and honor our country's Veterans. Paul worked with the City of Lakeville employees, Friedges Landscaping and coordinated volunteers to prepare the grounds, lay sod and prepare flower beds for planting. He prepared the memorial site for the dedication ceremonies by placing shrubs and freshly cut flowers in the flower beds. The project was completed in November of 2006 and required 135 hours to plan and carry out. The Memorial was dedicated on Veteran's Day of 2006 and has been enjoyed by many visitors since.

Paul has enjoyed his many experiences in Scouts and plans to continue to be active in Scouting.

Coltan Adkins

EAGLE SCOUT: April 11th, 2008

Coltan's Eagle Scout project took place at YMCA Camp Streefland in Lakeville, MN. The camp wanted to use a small island in a lake next to the camp more. It was accessible by a small bridge or canoe. A campfire pit as well as 4 benches surrounding the fire pit as well as a 5th bench that overlooked the lake was constructed. The island campsite is used considerably more now.

Currently, Coltan is studying at Dunwoody Institute to become a commercial electrician.

Geoff’s Eagle project took place at the parsonage (home for the Youth Pastor and his family) at Rosemount United Methodist Church. The front porch, walkway, and sidewalk alongside the drive way had deteriorated to the point where it was unsafe. Geoff’s project removed about 3 cubic yards of bad concrete, replace it and add a new 15’ by 15’ concrete patio for the young children to play on.

EAGLE SCOUT: December 3rd, 2002

Charlie’s Eagle project took place at the parsonage ( soon to be the home for the Youth Pastor and his family) at Rosemount United Methodist Church. Because the Youth Pastor had two young children, the Trustees wanted to have a privacy fence built around the back yard. Charlie’s project designed and built 225’ of double sided fence. After the wood cured for a season, it was then stained to match the siding on the parsonage.
